Balloon Eustachian Tuboplasty and Surgery for ETD: ETD can cause a blocked feeling in the ears and muffled hearing. It can often be treated with medicines, or operations such as balloon Eustachian tuboplasty, grommets or nasal surgery.
Acute otitis externa (ear canal infections) is common. The symptoms range from itching and muffled hearing to severe pain, fever and redness (cellulitis/perichondritis) of the ear itself. Treatment involes microsuction/clearance of the debris from the ear canal, antiobiotics and water avoidance.

Tonsillectomy and adenoidectomy are effective treatments for recurrent tonsillitis, Obstructive Sleep Apnoea/OSA and tonsil stones (tonsilloliths) in children. Coblation intracapsular tonsillectomy is also available, which reduces pain and bleeding risks.
